The Business Visits and Events Partnership (BVEP) is to meet with the Government on 2 August to discuss the future of the event industry.
BVEP chairman Michael Hirst will meet with minister for tourism John Penrose in talks mooted since late last year.
Hirst said he plans to reinforce the event industry’s contribution to "UK PLC" and also highlight some of the points made in the BVEP’s Meetings & Events Manifesto.
"As an industry it is crucial that we strike up meaningful relationships with senior government ministers and their officials as they set about the task of implementing the Government’s priorities and new policies," said Hirst.
"This meeting with John Penrose and more to be arranged with other ministers followed by the forth-coming House of Commons event in October, will give the industry excellent opportunities to put forward its case."
