Galen Poss is the new chairman of the Global Event Summit, taking over from Clarion's Simon Kimble.

Poss is chief operating officer of Dmg Events in the US. He will chair this year’s event, which is taking place from 4-6 September near Lisbon in Portugal.

Trevor Foley, managing director of the summit, said: "Galen was a big hit among delegates as a speaker in 2011. He was the ex-chairman's number one choice to succeed him and I am absolutely delighted that Galen has said yes."

Poss said he is "honoured and delighted" to take up the role: "I have big shoes to fill following two great years of leadership by Simon Kimble, but I am committed to the success of this year’s programme and to expanding North American participation in the summit."   

The Global Event Summit has been running for five years and is aimed at chief execuitve and board-level delegates in the event industry.
